I was born, raised and worked most of my life in Juneau, Alaska. Moving to Sequim in 2014, I became interested in driftwood art. I joined a local driftwood club, which I truly enjoyed. I moved beyond the club and began experimenting with different tools, techniques and mediums.
Dyes are now used in most of my pieces and resin is also a new feature I’ve added. I continue to use wax, French polish and Deft in the final finishing of some sculptures. Because of my love for the driftwood itself, that’s all I use. I have added air plants to several of my smaller pieces, which I believe brings out the beauty and natural flow of the wood.
